thisisnotanupdate (July 2008)

It's been a hectic few months at Thisisnotanexit HQ – so busy with releases and DJ work that I haven't finished a Thisisnotanexit mix for months now. Fear not – there should be a new one available VERY SOON though! Keep an eye on the thisisnotanexit blog to hear it first…

The past few months have seen a raft of issues and disasters - the worst of which was the pressing plant cocking up the releases of They Came From The Stars I Saw Them The HOT Inc. on 7" resulting in them all having to be destroyed. A shame after it was made single of the week in The Guardian Guide. Otherwise you can definitely get your mits on The HOT Inc. Remix 12" and the tracks that were supposed to be on the 7" via itunes and our usual digital friends.

Recently we released the first album on Thisisnotanexit and also the first PROPER album from They Came From The Stars I Saw Them. Entitled snappily "We Are All In The Gutter But Some Of Us Are Looking At They Came From The Stars I Saw Them" it's now available from all good record shops on CD and limited edition 180g LP. Or you can order it from us directly using the shop link. Watch out for the forthcoming single MOON SONG very soon with remixes from Serge Santiago, Mungolian Jetset, Holy Ghost, King Of Town and Detachments – PHEW!

Also, out now is the debut release from hotter than hot DETACHMENTS entitled Fear No Fear. This was supposed to come out on Ivan Smagghe's Kill The DJ label but we snapped it up as it was so good. You may have heard it already on xfm or Radio One but its shaping up to be a classic mixing post punk with early warp acid house sounds. Only 500 12"s pressed so you'd best be quick if you want one – and don't forget there's killer remixes on it from Naum Gabo and Moscow on there too!

Coming in the Autumn there will be the debut limited edition release from Spectral Empire as well as the debut album from cosmic prog pioneers BRAIN MACHINE. Plus a whole load of other stuff if we can get organised…..

thisisnotanupdate (April 2008)

The fifth release on Thisisnotanexit Records will come out 21st April on a limited edition 12" and digital download internationally. The release comes from Professor Genius who has previously released on Italians Do It Better and Disques Sinthomme. The new recordings are entitled à Jean Giraud and come in the form of seven individual parts. The first 12" will feature parts one to three plus a remix from Brennan Green (Balihu / Chinatown). Deep electronic disco music for the heart and soul. Part two featuring à Jean Giraud parts four to seven will follow later in the year.

The sixth release on the label will be by They Came From The Stars I Saw Them entitled The HOT Inc. and is a polemic assault on our celebrity obsessed age underpinned with a fearsome groove. It will be released May 12th on 7", 12" and digital download. The release will feature a new track entitled The New Wave Of New Brilliant alongside remixes of The Hot Inc. from Eugene Machine, Geek Chic Soundsystem and MoscoW (fresh from remixing The Foals, Lesser Panda and SMD and Chromeo).

The seventh release (with the confusing catalgue number of TINAE 010) will be We Are All In The Gutter But Some Of Us Are Looking At They Came From The Stars I Saw Them - the new album from They Came From The Stars I Saw Them available on limited edition LP, alongside cd and digital download. Released May 12th internationally. UK and European tour will happen around this time so watch out for the band in your local town!

The debut release from Detachments has now been confirmed as coming out on July 7th on 12" and digital download. Fear No Fear will come in its original form alongside remixes from Naum Gabo and Moscow. Already gaining support in the clubs from Andrew Weatherall and Ivan Smagghe watch out for this!

Watch out also for forthcoming releases from Naum Gabo, Club Silencio, Hatchback, Sculpture, The Dark Esquire and Spectral Empire....
